How far will YOUR reading take you?

Victoria's Accelerated Reader program is running strong!  The AR points club in the cafeteria has a growing number of names.

We are shooting to break our record from last year by exceeding 25,000 books and 50 MILLION words read... and we're well on our way.  This  year, our theme is READ
 ACROSS THE SOLAR SYSTEM, and the award levels are as follows:

Students continue to earn Principal's Recess and the trimester Ice Cream party for meeting their trimester goal.  PLUS... if the school reads, 25,000 books, Mr. Finley will SHAVE his beard!  And if we read 30,000 books, MR. ELWELL will shave his beard!  [update:  We PASSED 25,0000 books (so Mr. Finley's beard is toast) but we still need to keep reading to hit 30,000 and make Mr. E shave, too!]

Where is YOUR name? Keep reading and taking quizzes to TRAVEL to the outer reaches of the solar system!

A Peace Builder School

Our school continues its tradition as an outstanding example of how students representing 18 different cultures and languages are able to successfully work together to grow academically, socially, and emotionally in an atmosphere of high expectations and acceptance.

A Thinking Maps Site

Our school is a Thinking Maps site. Students in all grades use Thinking Maps as a common visual language for learning. There are 8 maps to help students filter and demonstrate their understanding, and each map is linked to a specific thinking process. There is a map for:
* Defining
* Describing
* Ordering
* Comparing & Contrasting
* Classifying
* Analyzing Causes & Effects
* Seeing Parts-to-Whole relationships
* Understanding Analogies.
